At the January 11, 2012 meeting of the York County Prevention Collaborative, Bill Paterson. M.Ed., C.P.E, and Project Director for Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition presented on prescription drug abuse and prevention efforts in York County. Prescription drug abuse is on the rise in York County as well as the state and across the country. The Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition and Choose to be Healthy – Healthy Maine Partnerships – are working together as part of a "Reducing Prescription Drug Abuse in York County: From Awareness to Action" grant from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety. Bill's PowerPoint presentation is available. At a future YCPC meeting, we will be showing Pont of No Return, a locally produced video about underage drinking and the tragedy that could have been prevented by differenet actions at three points in time.
